One Minute Trolley Dash

One Minute Trolley Dash Records is a South African based independent label, operating from Johannesburg.

One Minute Trolley Dash Records strives for excellence in every facet of the finished album from all aspects of a release to result in a product that is not only of impact and longevity sonically but with aesthetic worth as well.

The releases have focused upon the experimental edge of rock and post-rock, also including acoustic sound-scapes. The label is attracted to music that has energy and is flexible by viewing each release and potential signing individually. This disregards restrictions based on genre. By putting emphasis on the music OMTD aims to attract and work with intrepid artists that have a long-term vision, with which the label gives them the freedom and assistance to grow.

One Minute Trolley Dash records was formed in Cape Town in early 2005 drawing on the existing left-field scene to have a platform for artists of a shared unorthodox mindset to form a collective.

OMTD was filled with exuberance and idealistic notions in 2005 with avant-garde as its rallying cry resulting in a whirlwind of activity of 5 releases (on the omtd back catalogue). The year that followed was one of re-fining the label given the success of OMTD’s forth release by indie art-pop maniacs The Wild Eyes garnering much attention, selling out the first pressing and a selection for 2007 South by South West festival. Though well deserving it prompted the label morphing over time into a bona fide music record label focused upon creative and experimental music from artists in South Africa as well as those of interest internationally.
